Across Virginia, farmers are experiencing significant crop damage due to inclement weather and rising costs driven by Trump's trade war.  Today in a House Ag Committee hearing, Sec. Rollins committed to issuing a Secretarial Disaster Designation for Virginia, and I expect her to follow through.

Higher grocery bills, higher utility bills, higher prices at the pump — all driven by rising transportation costs as diesel prices continue to climb due to Trump's war of choice with Iran.  That’s why I introduced the Diesel Prices Relief Act to temporarily suspend the federal diesel tax. (1/2)

After news that Dominion Energy could be acquired by NextEra, it’s clear we need stronger protections to ensure consumers come before corporate profits.    That’s why I’m leading legislation to lower utility costs and increase oversight of utility monopolies.

I’m proud that my team has returned more than $6 MILLION in backlogged tax refunds, Social Security checks, VA benefits, and more to residents in the Seventh District.   If you are facing an issue with a federal agency, please reach out to my office. We are here to help!

Four months into Trump’s war of choice, Americans are worse off than they were before it began.    Farm country is hurting, grocery bills are skyrocketing, and gas prices remain high.    Safe to say this was a failure, President Trump.

It was great to be at an event alongside the National Partnership for Women & Families and Paid Leave for All.    I’m proud to stand with advocates continuing the fight to make paid family and medical leave a reality for every worker in every state.

Congratulations to my “Constituent of the Week,” Chief Rebecca Davis Nelson, on her appointment as Chief of Police for the Town of Orange.  With more than two decades of law enforcement experience, she now makes history as the first woman to lead the agency.  Thank you for your service!

Americans are struggling to make ends meet while the president is waging war without congressional approval.     President Trump should be focused on bringing down costs here at home instead of foreign ventures overseas.

14 7

Virginians should not be paying more for groceries, gas, and basic necessities because of another costly overseas conflict.  I’m leading legislation to pause the diesel tax and backing a gas tax pause to deliver immediate relief for working families.

I introduced a bill to BAN Members of Congress and their families from using prediction markets. Allowing lawmakers to use prediction markets undermines public trust and endangers U.S. national security. Congress must pass this bill and begin restoring the people's faith in their institutions.

Inflation is outpacing wages for the first time in three years.    Gas prices have climbed above $4 a gallon.    Monthly utility bills continue to rise.   This conflict is far from over — and hardworking Virginians are paying the price.

22 3

This is yet another conflict Trump has pulled us into without Congressional approval.  Congress has a constitutional responsibility to authorize the use of military force. Bypassing that process weakens accountability and democratic oversight.  The American people deserve transparency.

The Prince William County Animal Services Center is full of adorable puppies and kittens looking for their forever homes! 🐶🐱   If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, now’s the perfect time to stop by and give a shelter pet the second chance they deserve.

Secretary Hegseth made it clear that he’s more concerned with media optics than the deaths of six U.S. service members.  It’s disgusting.   Our troops deserve leadership that puts their lives and service first.

21 10

It’s clear that Secretary Hegseth cares more about protecting the president’s image than our soldiers.    He must resign. Our troops deserve better.

I am proud to recognize Richard E. Toye Sr. as my ‘Constituent of the Week’ on the U.S. House Floor.  Mr. Toye is a 98-year-old World War II veteran, Spotsylvania County resident, and longtime volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters and United Way.  Thanks for all you do!

President Trump is proposing a $1.5 TRILLION defense budget.  He would rather pour resources into his illegal war of choice than invest in health care and child care here at home.   We cannot allow Washington Republicans to rubber-stamp this reckless agenda.

19 7

A fifth-grade class from Stafford wrote me about the importance of lowering costs and expanding access to healthy foods. They’re right — and that’s why I couldn’t support this Farm Bill. As the only Virginian on the Ag Committee, I’m working hard to address the concerns of the next generation.

14 4

President Truman had a sign on his desk that said “The Buck Stops Here.” It’s clear with this Administration — and especially Secretary Hegseth — that the motto is “Pass the Buck.”

31 11

I voted “no” on the Farm Bill because it would make life more difficult for farmers and families.    House Republicans have brought forward a bill that prioritizes large corporations over our nation’s producers.    I remain committed to standing up for Virginia’s farmers.

21 2

Secretary Hegseth attacked reporters for covering the deaths of six American service members — because it "made the president look bad."    Today I asked him directly to take it back. He refused.   Secretary Hegseth is a disgrace. He must resign.

50 19

I’m about to question Secretary Hegseth on Trump’s war of choice in Iran — which has been a disaster at every turn. He owes our troops and the American people answers.

29 5

Secretary Hegseth sent American service members into a war of choice with Iran without a clear plan.    Now, with lives lost and hundreds wounded, there’s still no end in sight.    I will be questioning him today on these failures and demanding answers for the American people.

As a 25-year Army veteran, I am appalled by the news that a U.S. service member bet on the capture of Nicolás Maduro using classified information.   If found guilty, he must be held fully accountable for his actions — which placed both the mission and the lives of his fellow soldiers at risk.

18 3

Congratulations to Curry Roberts, my “Constituent of the Week,” on his retirement after years of dedicated service as president of the Fredericksburg Regional Alliance at the University of Mary Washington.  I’m grateful for his contributions to our community, and I wish him well in retirement!

In military operations, a few hours can mean the difference between mission success and catastrophe.  When someone with insider knowledge bets on military operations before they occur, they're putting the entire mission — and our U.S. service members — at risk.

20 7

The soldier accused of betting on the capture of Nicolás Maduro betrayed his oath and the trust placed in those who wear the uniform.  These illegal, unacceptable actions must be stopped before they endanger future operations and put American lives at risk.

This administration has entered a war of choice in the Middle East without clear strategic objectives, even as its actions risk driving our global competitors closer together.  These choices risk destabilizing the region and undermining America’s long-term national security interests.

I was honored to recognize my ‘Constituent of the Week’, Pranav Vedula, on the U.S. House floor for winning the Seventh Congressional District’s App Challenge.      Congratulations on a job well done, Pranav! Your future is bright.

April 22 is Earth Day — a reminder that protecting our planet and lowering costs for Virginia families should go hand in hand.  Energy bills are up 13% under this administration, putting real strain on household budgets. Virginia families shouldn’t have to sacrifice one basic need for another.

11 4

Thirteen lives lost, hundreds wounded, and $50 billion spent.   This was a war of choice — and we are less safe because of it.

19 6

Yesterday, I once again voted in favor of a War Powers Resolution to stop President Trump’s war of choice against Iran.  To this day, the administration has not provided a clear or credible justification for entering this conflict. Congress — and the American people — deserve answers.

27 11

Insider trading on prediction markets — especially when it involves matters of national security — is unacceptable.    I questioned CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig on this issue, pressing for accountability to ensure these markets are not exploited at the expense of America's troops or security.

I was honored to recognize Patrice Summers for 26 years of exceptional service to Prince William County.  I'm thankful for all she’s done for the PWC community — as Chief Elections Officer and as an active member of the SEIU Virginia 512 organizing committee.  Thank you for all you do, Patrice!

President Trump is using dangerous, inflammatory rhetoric to distract from a simple truth: he has no plan for Iran.   America cannot be great if it is not also good, and under his leadership we are losing sight of the values that make this country exceptional.

21 5

Congress must get back to work and put a check on this rogue president.   Speaker Johnson needs to call the House back into session to pass a War Powers Resolution and rein in Trump's reckless impulses.    More with Laura Coates👇

Gas prices are through the roof📈   Trump started this war, but the American people are paying for it.
