We need a Democrat who can build a broad coalition of voters from across the ideological spectrum and defeat Tom Kean Jr. I know I’m the best candidate to do that, which is why I proudly cast my vote today! Now it’s your turn: make sure you have a plan to vote by June 2nd. And please, vote Varela!!
Freedom of speech is a cornerstone of our democracy. But Citizens United turned it into a loophole for the ultra-wealthy to buy influence and shape policy in their favor. When you follow the money behind attacks on LGBTQIA+ rights, affordable housing, and healthcare, it leads back to dark money.
The presidential pardon has become a relic being weaponized to buy influence, protect allies, and embolden those who believe they're above the law. That's not what democracy looks like. I believe it's time for serious reform—because no one should be able to pardon their way out of accountability.
Our democracy is breaking under the influence of billionaires who’ve bought the system to serve themselves instead of working families. I'm running to change that by rejecting corporate PAC money, denouncing dark money, and fighting to end Citizens United. The voters should decide our elections.
I'm disgusted by how ICE is treating people in our communities. We've given agents sweeping authority without the training we'd demand of nearly any other agency that carries a badge—and the result is cruelty, fear, and families living in indecent conditions. The people of New Jersey deserve better.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and one of the biggest drivers of opportunity in communities across the country. We should be doing more to support entrepreneurship, expand access to capital, and empower people who want to solve problems and create opportunity in their communities.
Immigrants are being used as political scapegoats while working families continue struggling with rising costs. Immigrant communities contribute enormously to this country and its economy. We need to stop dividing people for political gain and start focusing on what families are facing every day.
Proud to share our second TV ad! My mom’s battle is a story far too many families can relate to. No one should have to lose the care they need because they can’t afford insurance. I’m fighting for Medicare for All. If you’re ready to support that vision, I’d be honored to have your vote on June 2.
As the workforce continues to change, we need to invest more in trade schools, workforce training, and programs like Pell Grants to make sure people have real opportunities and employers have the skilled workers they need. These investments strengthen our communities and our economy in the long run.
At the end of the day, people want leaders who understand what they’re actually going through. Too many working and middle-class families feel disconnected from politics because they don’t feel heard. This race is about bringing in leadership that is focused on the issues people deal with every day.
When I’m out in the district, I see how these decisions impact working families. Cutting investments in renewable energy and green infrastructure doesn’t just hurt the environment — it costs jobs, slows innovation, and weakens economic growth when we should be building a stronger economy for all.
I believe Citizens United opened the door to too much money and influence in our politics. People have felt the consequences of that for years. If we want to restore trust in government, we need real reform—which is why I rejected corporate PAC money and support banning congressional stock trading.
455,000 women left the workforce in 2025. The #1 reason? Childcare. Working mothers earn 35% less than fathers. The Surgeon General calls it a crisis. My plan to solve this: $10/day childcare for the middle class and 6 months paid maternity leave. Read the full plan: varelaforcongress.com/childcare
