It’s been over 2 years since the late Peta Murphy’s inquiry into online gambling advertising & how it affects problem gamblers. Since then, Australians have lost $60 billion to gambling. Australians need a government with the will and the courage to protect them from gambling harms.

Inflation pressures remain persistent. In 2024–25, the Govt handed out $12.5 billion in fossil fuel subsidies. It’s time to rethink priorities. We need smarter, climate-aligned budgeting that delivers real cost-of-living relief and invests in Australia’s future.

The Petroleum Resource Rent Tax (PRRT) is unfit-for-purpose. Currently the govt raises significantly more revenue from HECS repayments than it does from PRRT. I’m calling for sensible, overdue reforms: • Reduce the PRRT deductions cap from 90% to 80% • Remove the 7-year exemption period #auspol

The proposed EV road-user charge is unfair & not what the Productivity Commission recommended. Any road-user charge should be part of a national, equitable reform that applies to all vehicles. It should replace the outdated fuel excise & reflect the true cost and emissions impact of transport.

This morning I moved an amendment to better define disorderly conduct in Parliament—including harassment, bullying and intimidation. Clear standards matter. While not passed, the Govt has committed to further consideration. Parliament must be a respectful and professional workplace. #auspol
