Earlier this week, I joined a bipartisan majority in passing a War Powers Resolution to end President Trump’s illegal war in Iran. Congress cannot sit on the sidelines while America is dragged deeper into another costly war with no end in sight. The legislation now heads to the Senate.

Bill Pulte has no national security or intelligence experience. But President Trump just put him in charge of America’s intelligence community anyway. Americans deserve intelligence leadership focused on protecting our country — not helping carry out a political revenge tour.

Today, the House passed my bill to rename the Palatine Post Office in honor of Bernie Bluestein — WWII hero, Ghost Army veteran, and beloved leader in our community. A long-overdue tribute, and one that will help keep Bernie’s legacy alive in Palatine for generations.

This week, I laid out what DHS did in the Chicago area after promising to “make America’s cities safe again”: pepper-sprayed a one-year-old, tased a U.S. citizen, tear-gassed neighborhoods, tackled an 18-year-old, and shot a witness five times.

I joined some friends in Elgin today because yesterday’s killing by Trump’s DHS was a murder. No agency should be allowed to take a civilian’s life and escape accountability. I will continue to oppose DHS funding until there is real oversight, transparency, and justice.

I am horrified by what happened in Minneapolis. Another civilian shot in the street by Trump’s DHS. This is beyond unacceptable. I will continue to oppose ICE funding and to fight for real accountability as we see federal agents repeatedly use deadly force without consequences.

Shadene Butchart has ALS. Because the GOP let the ACA tax credits expire, her health care is now unaffordable, almost costing her husband’s entire Social Security check. I voted to restore these tax credits today for Shadene and the 550,000 Illinois families who need them.

I’m introducing the NOVA Act to block any taxpayer-funded occupation of Venezuela and stop U.S. tax dollars from subsidizing oil companies there. Congress has not authorized “running” Venezuela, and American families shouldn’t be forced to pay for it.

Instead of working to lower premiums and health care costs, Republicans are more worried about throwing parents and doctors of transgender youth in jail. No parent should fear prosecution for trying to get their kid the care they need.
