The Liberals’ decision to repeal the Underused Housing Tax makes no sense. This measure was meant to curb foreign speculation in Canada's housing market and raise nearly $700M for public priorities. Scrapping it means giving up an important tool for addressing the housing crisis.

Last week I tried to remove sections of the Liberal budget bill that retroactively deny compensation owed to Canadian Veterans. But the Liberals and Conservatives teamed up to keep the provisions in place. This shameful decision breaks Canada’s covenant with those who served.

The Carney Liberals are selling off Canada’s ports and airports. After Heathrow was privatized, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and China gained major stakes in the airport. Canadians deserve a full national security review before foreign state-owned entities are given control of our strategic infrastructure.

Just returned from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, where we saw firsthand the reality facing Canadians in the North. Severe overcrowding, decades long housing waitlists, and shocking food prices. When will the government take real action for northern and rural communities across Canada?

New Democrats believe in supporting big nation-building projects, like an East-West clean electricity grid, which would create hundreds of thousands of jobs, reduce pollution, promote energy security and lower energy bills.

New Democrats have outlined clear priorities ahead of the Nov. 4 budget. Canada needs substantial investment to create good jobs, build affordable housing, and strengthen public healthcare. Now is not the time for austerity—the NDP won’t support a budget that takes that approach.

Millions of Canadians are struggling. Yet the Liberals are demanding sacrifices from workers, while handing out billions to the wealthiest individuals and biggest corporations. New Democrats have a better plan: positive, constructive policies to build a stronger, fairer Canada.

Last year Parliament passed legislation to cover diabetes and contraceptive medications through our public healthcare system. Budget 2025 promised to protect pharmacare—but didn't allocate any money to it. The Liberals must keep their word and fund pharmacare for all Canadians.
