Over the weekend, Senate Democrats successfully challenged Republicans’ attempt to give $1 billion in taxpayer dollars to President Trump’s ballroom. This is a big win, and we’ll continue to fight against such a colossal waste of resources as they scramble to redraft.

I brought a pocket Constitution to the Senate floor to give Congressional Republicans a civics lesson. Only Congress, not the President, has the power to declare war.

Last year, electric and gas utility companies requested to raise their rates by $31 billion, the largest increase on record. But instead of doing everything he can to make power more affordable, President Trump cut the clean energy grants that would have helped lower electricity prices.

The President and his family don’t even try to hide their corruption. Last year alone, they made at least $1.4 billion through backroom deals and legal threats. And the American people are fed up.

For too long, Americans’ constitutional rights have been violated. I joined Senator Lee to introduce a bill to require government agents to obtain a warrant before viewing Americans’ private communications collected under 702. Let’s get this done.

Today, Republicans left town without funding Trump’s mass deportations, billionaire ballroom, or his January 6 slush fund. We will remain ready to challenge these horrendous wastes of taxpayer dollars when they return.
