Republicans passed their Don't Say Trans bill that infringes on American students' First Amendment rights by censoring curricula and banning books, and could endanger children by requiring schools to out trans students in certain situations, even if doing so would put them in physical danger.

As the Dean of the New York Congressional Delegation, I proudly stood alongside my fellow New York Democrats to urge our Republican colleagues to find the courage to stand up for New Yorkers and oppose this cruel bill.

FISA Section 702 must be reformed to require a probable cause warrant for intelligence agencies to search through Americans’ personal information held in the 702 database. This bill is woefully insufficient because it lacks that requirement.

I could not in good conscience vote for the GOP Continuing Resolution, which leave tens of millions of Americans facing higher costs and lost coverage. Democrats put forward a plan to extend ACA tax credits and repeal Medicaid cuts. Republicans refused to even negotiate.

Nurses should not have to strike for decent benefits, fair wages, and dignity. I was proud to join @nynurses.bsky.social on the Mount Sinai Morningside picket line as they fight for a fair contract that protects them and the New Yorkers they care for. I stand with nurses.

Judiciary Republicans want to deport people accused of fraud. It’s a good thing Trump was born in America, or he’d be at the top of the list.
