Told Steve Bannon that the manner in which Israel and Trump have conducted the war on Iran has left most of the population increasingly convinced that it's a war on Iran, not a war on the theocracy. This cannot be reversed - rather, Trump should just end the war.

There is still an off-ramp available to Trump, but it will require a compromise, including sanctions relief for Iran. There are ways Trump can do this that will serve US interest. But if he goes in with ground troops, the opportunity will likely be lost.

I discuss on @Bannons_WarRoom why the whole idea of a naval blockade won't go anywhere. Trump has no escalatory paths out of this futile war; the sooner he recognizes that and adopts realistic negotiation positions, the better off the US will be.

Said on @Bannons_WarRoom that Lindsey Graham is pushing Trump to make a precondition of the Iran deal that other regional countries have to normalize relations with Israel through the Abraham Accords. That is a poison pill. Graham is trying to sabotage Trump's Iran deal.

This is what Trump promised he would end. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Told @cnn that Iran wasn't pursuing a nuclear weapon according to US intelligence services before the war, but the war may dramatically incentivize them to go in that direction if a deal is not reached.

Told @Bannons_WarRoom that if the US position in Islamabad truly was zero enrichment, we should not be surprised that the talks failed; we should be surprised that that was the US strategy. It raises questions about the sincerity of the talks.
