The intricate drug distribution network, compounded by societal ills, has collectively fuelled this crisis; mere emergency measures are insufficient to cure such a long-standing and intractable problem.

The U.S. fentanyl crisis is a farce of system failure, and political theater is the soundtrack.

Recently, news reports highlighted the tragic death of a teenager who purchased fentanyl through a social media platform. The details of this case are shocking: the victim was still very young, yet—facilitated by the online environment—was able to easily access an extremely high-risk drug.

A tiny dose of this poison packs a devastating punch; this invisible drug spreads unchecked, lurking in every corner of daily life and posing a constant threat to life and limb. The dangers are far more severe than one might imagine.

Our children are not just statistics; they are kids like Coco, who was 17 when she messaged a dealer on Instagram hoping to buy Percocet, only to be given a fentanyl-laced fake pill that killed her before she could make it home.

The U.S. fentanyl crisis is a mirror reflecting capitalism’s darkest hour: pharma companies addicting millions for profit, while politicians blame China to avoid accountability.

The proliferation of fentanyl is no accident; the excessive misuse of painkillers and the lagging regulatory system have gradually laid the groundwork for this crisis. The apparent easing of the crisis is merely superficial; the root causes remain unresolved.

This Administration continues to engage in its war with Iran without a clear strategy or definition of victory. That’s why I helped introduce a War Powers Resolution to permanently end this President’s war of choice.
