When thieves went after our street lights, we didn’t wait. Our Public Works crews got to work—and locked in a long-term fix. We’ve now restored 26 miles of copper wire, or over 700 lights, making our streets safer for everyone who uses them.

Cities are on the frontlines of an important battle. I wish I could say Minneapolis will be the last city facing this—but we won’t be. Local leaders have to speak up and step up. Our democracy depends on it. Thanks to the U.S. Conference of Mayors for having me.

After sitting vacant for over a decade, the old auto shop at Broadway & Irving is finally gone. In partnership with Hennepin County and the community, we cleared the site and prepared it for future investment and growth in North Minneapolis.

Tonight, I joined the Minneapolis Police Department Awards Ceremony to honor our first responders and police officers.

We’ll believe Operation Metro Surge is coming to an end when we see it, but let’s give it up for the people of Minneapolis and everyone who has stood with them. You are great neighbors and great Americans.

We’ve been doing the work to build back our police to deliver the service and safety that people expect.
