The treatment of detainees inside Delaney Hall is appalling. Lack of medical care. Insufficient and sometimes infested food. Overflowing sewage, overcrowding, no outdoor time, and blatant retaliation.

We saw this coming: Trump and Stephen Miller are sending masked, untrained ICE agents into cities with orders to use force and incite violence. They are deliberately creating chaos in order to threaten the Insurrection Act and usurp more power. We’re not fooled.

With $50k bonuses and ridiculous quotas, it is not a surprise that ICE's hiring process under @Sec_Noem is haphazard and dangerous. Maybe this is what she meant by getting “the worst of the worst.”

While I'm pleased that my office was able to help free the young man wrongfully arrested at 26 Federal Plaza yesterday, this never should have happened in the first place. ICE didn’t make a mistake. They chose to outright defy a federal judge’s explicit ban on courthouse arrests at 26 Fed.

We were promised the “worst of the worst” would be deported, but only 5% of detainees have felony convictions. Instead, Trump is illegally deporting people with active asylum claims. House GOP can’t ignore the law just because they don’t like it. My Republican colleagues: You have a spine. Use it.

House Republicans just enabled ICE to continue their lawlessness for another 10 days. But at that point, they’ll need Dem votes to continue. We must not agree to another dollar for ICE until we add my amendment blocking the federal government from seizing voter rolls, ballots, or voting machines.

When I was at Delaney Hall this week, I heard firsthand about the cruel and inhumane reality inside. One detainee showed me horrific infected blisters on his back from scalding shower water. Another is forced to perform 40 haircuts a day, earning a measly $4 for hours of labor.

Donald Trump’s secret ICE thugs are murdering American citizens. And then they are lying to the American people to avoid accountability. This is fascism, plain and simple. ICE needs to be abolished and they need to immediately get off of our streets.

Dems should use every ounce of leverage we have to stop ICE's outrageous authoritarian dragnet, including this week's appropriations bill for DHS. I introduced four amendments to the bill to rein in ICE’s worst abuses & restore accountability. Rs are about to tell us exactly where they stand.

Five months ago, Allan Dabrio Marrero was detained by ICE during a routine green card interview and transferred across multiple states. Today, through the assistance of my office’s triage center, we welcomed him back home.
