The American people are witnessing something unconstitutional and unprecedented in American history. When I talk to people in NW Ohio they tell me they can’t afford gas for the car, food for healthy meals, or the cost of healthcare. I have yet to meet a single one who wants to spend $1 Billion on a gilded ballroom. Let the President’s Billionaire pals pay for the ballroom—my people can’t afford it.

Roger Carpenter was a patriot and dear citizen who devoted 75 years of his life to shaping character, citizenship, and service in Oak Harbor in NW Ohio. For generations of young people in Troop 316 he was a Scoutmaster who taught values, and was a steady hand, who personified the Scout Oath and Law.

Little Flower Scouts had many questions about citizenship, agriculture, and protecting our environment. As a once and forever Little Flower Girl Scout, I was glad to be with them. I look forward to seeing all of these young Scouts again once they've earned their Citizenship Badges.

US Army General Randy George's service as an American soldier reflects decades of unwavering patriotic commitment to our nation. He led at every level academically, and then served from platoon to theater. His career was not measured in titles, but in sacrifice, and judgment forged over time.

John Carney was a builder, a steward of civic renewal and a tireless champion for his beloved Northern Ohio community. He brought people together with warmth, humility, and an ever present Irish sparkle in his eye. Ohio is stronger, more vibrant, and more hopeful because John Carney walked among us.

The Trump Administration tariffs and $20 Billion they doled out to Argentina from US taxpayers, was not well received in regions like the one I represent in NW Ohio. Imagine how those dollars could be used instead to help farmers meet the increasing costs they're bearing right now.

As #WomensHistoryMonth comes to a close, I rose to recognize NW Ohio trailblazer Louise Brower. In 1975 she broke barriers becoming the first woman to serve as a Principal of a large metropolitan Ohio High School. At Scott High she led with strength, dignity and an unwavering belief in her students.

As spring flowers blossom across NW Ohio, students, teachers, and parents celebrate the completion of another productive school year. To graduates from high schools, universities, community colleges, and the trades, graduation means new horizons for your future. Congratulations and Onward!
