Since moving to a new managing agent, John's experience has improved and he feels like he owns his property again. There’s more regular communication, residents are informed in advance about decisions, and there’s more opportunity to have input on how money is spent.

What made you decide to pursue Right to Manage❓️ For John and the other leaseholders, it came down to the level of service and how their money was being managed. There were concerns about spending and a lack of clear answers when questions were raised.

For both leaseholder and freeholders, when it comes to choosing a managing agent, John’s advice is to take the time to look at different options. In his experience, the size of a company doesn’t always translate to better service, particularly from a leaseholder’s perspective.

How has holding First Port to account impacted you❓️ Taking on a managing agent wasn’t a quick or simple process.

Many of residents in #NorthSomerset have experienced the difficulties of having FirstPort as a managing agent. That is why it was so lovely to recently meet with John to hear about his experience with leasehold and FirstPort.

Even after a successful outcome, the financial side of the process didn’t feel proportionate. After spending over £23,000, only a small portion of that was recovered for John and the other residents.

⏰️ For anyone considering Right to Manage, John suggests getting support early on. There are companies that can handle the setup process and documentation, which can make the process more straightforward.
