28th April 2022. A date that changed history for the British Sign Language community. 🗓️ Do you know why this date is so significant? It marks the Royal Assent of the BSL Act. While official recognition is a massive victory, at Signalise, we know that recognition is only the beginning.

We don’t treat workers like suppliers. We are the suppliers! That is the difference between Signalise and traditional agencies. We are a co-op built by the very people doing the work, which means we operate on trust and transparency, not just transactions.

If an interpreter did not show up, the problem is often not the interpreter. It is the system. In traditional agency models, bookings can be unclear, unconfirmed or not communicated to you. At Signalise, an interpreter is only confirmed when you receive an SMS. No SMS means no confirmed booking.

Who books your interpreter affects your access. In agency systems, Deaf people are often left out. You do not choose who comes and you do not always get updates.
