28th April 2022. A date that changed history for the British Sign Language community. 🗓️ Do you know why this date is so significant? It marks the Royal Assent of the BSL Act. While official recognition is a massive victory, at Signalise, we know that recognition is only the beginning.

We don’t treat workers like suppliers. We are the suppliers! That is the difference between Signalise and traditional agencies. We are a co-op built by the very people doing the work, which means we operate on trust and transparency, not just transactions.

We all know the saying: "Buy cheap, pay twice." In community interpreting, this isn't just a saying—it’s a systemic failure. When contracts favor the lowest fees over quality, we end up with a false economy.

We cannot work without each other. Current systems drive the Deaf community and interpreters apart, placing agencies in the middle. This causes gaps in service and deep misunderstandings. Signalise is the bridge. 🌉

At Signalise, our work goes far beyond booking professionals. We are committed to tackling health inequalities by using outreach workers right in the heart of the community. We don't guess what Deaf users need; we hold user-led member strategy meetings to ask them directly.

Built by the community, powered by smart tech. We’ve combined community values with 21st-century tech. 📱 From our bespoke booking platform to real-time SMS updates, Signalise is using innovation to bridge the communication gap.

Where does your money go? When you choose Signalise, your investment stays in the community. 🌍 Unlike private agencies that prioritize profit for shareholders, we reinvest our surplus back into the Deaf community and the professionals who support it.

High standards mean lower risks. Poor communication leads to clinical risk. ⚠️ In healthcare and legal settings, there is no room for "good enough." Signalise ensures that only qualified, vetted professionals are booked.

Compliance isn't a "nice to have"—it’s a requirement. Are your services meeting the Accessible Information Standard (AIS)? Meeting legal standards shouldn't be a struggle.

Inefficiency is expensive. Access shouldn't be. Did you know that every missed appointment costs the NHS around £160? Why pay for mistakes? 💸 For Deaf patients, the impact is even greater. The issue is rarely the interpreter, but the system used to book them.

A co-op is only as strong as its members. At Signalise, we do not wait for contracts to build community. We believe that every co-op begins with the people, which is why we build the community first! 🤝

What if the problem isn’t us? What if it’s the system? We have spent years accepting broken systems. Traditional agencies seem to create the same issues every time. But it does not have to be this way.

Tired of missed appointments? It doesn’t have to be this way. Do you always get a BSL interpreter for your health appointments? Too often, you ask for an interpreter, but no one arrives. Requests can be logged or entirely missed, leaving you wondering who is responsible.

Why join now? Because co-ops grow when people join. Not the other way around. If we wait, nothing changes. Signalise expands region by region and is shaped by the people who use and provide the service. The co-op begins when the people do. Be part of building the future of communication access.

If an interpreter did not show up, the problem is often not the interpreter. It is the system. In traditional agency models, bookings can be unclear, unconfirmed or not communicated to you. At Signalise, an interpreter is only confirmed when you receive an SMS. No SMS means no confirmed booking.

1 0

Who books your interpreter affects your access. In agency systems, Deaf people are often left out. You do not choose who comes and you do not always get updates.

🙌 Being a member means you are not just a service user. You are an owner. A co-op is a business run by its members. Deaf people. Communication Professionals. Supporters. One member with one vote. Shared power. Shared responsibility. Shared future.

1 0

We are not an agency. We are a co-op 🤝 That means trust, choice, continuity and fairness. Not just getting whoever is available. Deaf users have control. Interpreters are respected and fairly paid. Bookings are transparent and everyone sees the same information.
