Kammel Hawwash, an ex-uni professor, recently became the first councillor of Palestinian origin in Birmingham, the UK's second-largest city. He is also the Deputy Leader of the Birmingham Green Party. He spoke to The New Arab about how Palestine influenced his decision to enter politics:
