was over here turning a ring jug, and figured id take time to show yall a trick. these forms are notorious for forming cracks at the join, but this technique increases the surface area of the join improving the situation significantly #pottery #folkart #stoneware #handmade #humanmade

after letting the join set up for a bit (anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, depending on several factors) i carefully scrape the join in, work it down, blend it in, and smooth it. the strongest join we can make is one we cant find after #facejug #pottery #folkart #wildclay #sculpting
