We just asked Ted Cruz what he thinks of the Supreme Court potentially overturning birthright citizenship next week. He called birthright citizenship, which granted Black people citizenship during reconstruction as part of the 14th amendment, a "foolish policy."

Only by making our country fully reckon with and repair the harm of white supremacy from its foundation will we create a truly free and equal future.

We asked Andrew Cuomo whether he would commit to supporting reparations and making equality real for Black New Yorkers. He refused to do so as Governor and refused to give us a clear answer now unlike @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social who has already signed our pledge to back repair.

With SCOTUS about to determine the fate of birthright citizenship next week, putting the citizenship of thousands of Black and Brown Americans into question, our volunteers went to DC to ask Republican Senators what they think about the impact of this decision. Here's how Sen. John Cornyn responded

We asked Senator Kevin Cramer about the potential end of birthright citizenship and returning to a time when Black and brown people were second class citizens. He kept saying that it had nothing to do with race despite it being part of the 14th amendment granting Black people citizenship.

Though he couldn’t make it, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social sent a statement (read out by the event’s moderator, Ivy) outlining his support of repair, how he would use the role of mayor to move that vision forward, and his commitment to our freedom beacon pledge.

Last week we organized students to walk out from schools all across NYC in solidarity with Minneapolis and to free our city and country from the modern day slave patrol. Tomorrow, we hope to see even more students and workers joining the walk out to kick white supremacy to the curb.

Yesterday, our leaders spoke at the mass walkout in NYC about how this moment isn't just about kicking ICE out; it's about reckoning with the history of white supremacy that created ICE. This moment of reckoning requires us to repair the harm from its roots.
