Zellnor Myrie spoke about how important it is for Black New Yorkers to get reparations and how he’d fight for it as mayor.

Instead of honoring the promise of 40 acres and a mule to Black folks after the Civil War, Jim Crow politicians compensated former enslavers. Now MAGA is using the same playbook, stealing money set aside for actual reparations and giving it instead to modern day confederates.

Only by making our country fully reckon with and repair the harm of white supremacy from its foundation will we create a truly free and equal future.

We asked Andrew Cuomo whether he would commit to supporting reparations and making equality real for Black New Yorkers. He refused to do so as Governor and refused to give us a clear answer now unlike @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social who has already signed our pledge to back repair.
