RIP to Marcia Lucas, who *along with* Paul Hirsch and Richard Chew edited the original Star Wars trilogy with excellence. In tribute to their work, I had to share a clip of the original - and now largely suppressed 1977 film for which the trio won an Oscar and not the post 1997 special "editions."

This pops up on BBC1/BBC3 periodically and its really grown on me to the point that I now rank it amongst my faves. Swayze succeeds in making Bodhi a charismatic villain - something that many actors can't always pull off. Oh and the Nixon impersonator is a riot! 😁

I can't sleep, so I'm revisiting John Singleton's 1993 flick "Poetic Justice." It's undeniable that Singleton's debut "Boyz n the Hood" is a classic but this and "Higher Learning" are underrated. It's a shame that Janet Jackson hasn't done more films as she turned in a solid performance here. 👏

"After Hours" also released in 1985 and directed by the great Martin Scorsese. It's a delightfully written and directed black comedy with splendid cinematography that goes overlooked in comparison to his biopics and gangster flicks. Another case where I need to pick up the Criterion Blu-ray. 🖤

For *years* I'd heard it lauded as the greatest film ever, so eventually I tuned in to a BBC2 airing and now, it's my favourite film ever. I go through phases where I watch it religiously and never cease to find new aspects that enthral me. From the cinematography to the screen-writing. Truly epic.
