As top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, I'm holding the Trump Administration accountable for the rhetoric on deploying federal agents at polling places, an act that is a violation of federal law.   We will not let them interfere with free and fair American elections.

Great to have @mcbride.house.gov join me for a tour of L3 Harris to learn about their cutting-edge optics work for missions like the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope.

4 2

My mother had more reproductive rights than my grandchildren have, and that's hard to wrap your head around.   We can't stop fighting to protect the rights we may have once taken for granted.

5 2

Here in Rochester, the home of Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony, we've been in the fight for the right to vote for a long time.   To find we are back in a place where those rights are being attacked is unimaginable.

8 3

We cannot unilaterally disarm while states across the country are enacting hyper-partisan redistricting at Donald Trump's request. We have to fight back.

7 2

The Trump Administration's immigration claims are nothing but a lie. They are not going after the “worst of the worst,” and they know it. They're going after people who are simply trying to chase the American dream because it serves them politically.

8 3

Omar Ramos Jimenez has lived in Rochester for 30 years, paid his taxes, started a small business, and been active in his community.   The notion he is somehow a flight risk, which is why he's been detained, is outrageous. He just wants to be home, in Rochester, with his family.

6 2

Corruption runs rampant in the Trump Administration, and it's reprehensible.   Congress must step in, Donald Trump must be stopped.

6 4

Rochester did not ask for these detention cells. We have shared our concerns and demanded transparency from the Trump Administration. We have been summarily ignored. They picked the wrong community for that. We will fight back.

13 4

The people of Rochester understand that the Trump Administration is only working to bring fear into the lives of everyday citizens in our country. We see the pattern, and we won't stand for it.

8 2

I led the defeat of Republicans’ partisan bill that would have handed Donald Trump unprecedented control over the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum.   Women’s history belongs to the American people—not Donald Trump and his loyal followers.

9 1

Donald Trump likes to talk about public safety, but there's nothing safe about making an entire community terrified of its own government and dropping detention cells into a downtown building our community uses to access public services every day.

3 0

The fact that FBI Director Kash Patel used government dollars to go on a juvenile snorkeling expedition in Pearl Harbor is disgraceful.   These are sacred waters where we honor those who gave the last full measure of devotion to this country.

11 5

The president issued a blanket pardon to violent criminals who stormed the Capitol on January 6th, now he wants to pay them taxpayer dollars for their behavior?   It's ridiculous.

9 3

The Trump Administration wants people who have come here, worked hard, and built a life for themselves to live in fear.   That's the point, and it is indefensible.

4 1

My team and I are exploring every legal avenue available to us to stop the proposed ICE detention cells in the downtown Federal Building from opening.   I won't stop fighting for our community, and communities across the country facing Donald Trump's inhumane immigration agenda.

16 5

The recklessness of the Trump Administration is out of control. Trump chose to dismantle the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces, a program that has longstanding bipartisan support as a common sense public safety program.

8 4

Donald Trump wants to take taxpayer dollars from families who are already struggling and give them out to his friends and allies through a slush fund. It's despicable.   Congressional Republicans must step in.

10 5

The Department of Justice is now spending its time and money carrying out President Trump's cruel immigration agenda.   All they are doing is creating more chaos, confusion, and dysfunction.

6 3

The Trump Administration is trying to bring their cruel and inhumane immigration agenda into the heart of Rochester.   They're doing this with no regard for the people of our community. I'm fighting back so these detention cells never open.

6 2

Republicans are very concerned about the verdict of the American people in the midterms.   That's why they're trying to limit how people vote. We're not going to let them.

7 1

We have lost 89,000 manufacturing jobs since the Trump Administration took office.   Now, they want to enact further cuts that will mean fewer economic opportunities for hardworking Americans while global competitors gain ground.

5 4

The evidence is overwhelming, Black representation is being attacked across our country, and the green light has been given by the Supreme Court.   We must defend equal representation and ensure Americans' voices are heard.

2 1

Americans are struggling right now, and Donald Trump is only making it worse.   He is not a serious man.

4 0

You cannot claim to support law enforcement while cutting the programs they need.   The Trump Administration and House Republicans want to cut the ATF by $285 million. That's hundreds of positions lost and fewer tools and resources to keep people safe.

7 4

Donald Trump doesn't know how to extract himself from Iran, and we're left in a worse place than we were before.

3 1

The Roberts Court will go down in history as one of the most racist courts in American history.

12 1

The President, as he so often does, made commitments and promises, then failed to deliver.   Now he wants working Americans to pay $1 billion for his gilded ballroom.

3 1

The President changes his mind multiple times in the same hour on the same day about the same subject.   His whims are destroying our economy.

7 5

It's been 74 days since Donald Trump launched his war in Iran and we still don't have an answer as to how many taxpayer dollars have been spent. The American people have a right to know.

8 2

Businesses small and large need predictability to succeed. Donald Trump's chaos and recklessness make that impossible.

5 2

The sovereign in America isn't a monarch, isn't a king. It's the people. The people cannot get the relief they need when the president engages in corrupt activity and when he tries to upset the midterm elections.

7 5

Donald Trump started this redistricting fight in Texas to benefit the Republican party because he is afraid of the verdict of the American people.

9 0

As Top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, I'm leading the effort to protect our elections. I'm traveling around the country, meeting with colleagues in their communities to stop the president from trying to disrupt the midterm elections.

6 4

The president is trying to do everything he can to upset our elections because he doesn't want to hear the verdict of the American people. We won't let him.

9 5

The American people give the verdict.   Not the president, not members of Congress. The American people decide.

10 3

The Supreme Court allowed redistricting to happen in the middle of the decade in order to help the Republican party. We didn't start this fight, but we're going to finish it.

4 1

During Teacher Appreciation Week, I surprised one of our Women's History Month honorees in her classroom. Nija Branca Bilofsky works every day to help her students learn and grow. I'm grateful for Nija and teachers like her who are changing the lives of students in Rochester.

9 4

Donald Trump has confiscated the White House. He has turned the power of the presidency into something that enriches him instead of working for the American people.

19 13

In the 2024 presidential election, nearly 90 million eligible Americans chose not to vote. We should be doing everything we can to engage people and build their faith in this institution that we call American democracy, not adding barriers that make it harder to vote.

8 4

It's hard to believe we're having the same fight for voting rights we had during the civil rights era of the 50s and 60s.   Through centuries of struggle, countless Americans have strived to make real our founders promises of freedom and equality. We won't stop that fight now.

11 2

The most important title in our democracy is citizen, and I'm encouraging every eligible American to get out and vote in our elections. Know that we'll have your back when you do.

11 5

At the end of the day, your vote is your power in American democracy. We want to make sure every American is empowered. Hear how we're making that happen in my conversation with @talkingpointsmemo.com

7 3

The more we shed light on Donald Trump's attempts to take over American elections, and the rights voters have, the less likely he is to succeed in silencing voters.   I talked about my work with the Committee on House Administration on Talking Points Memo.

3 1

Grateful to Virginia Canter from Democracy Defense Action for joining our Anti-Corruption and Democracy Reform Task Force meeting this week.   We need real change, and we are determined to find the best path forward, together.

6 4

We've always had a Department of Justice that was focused on protecting the American right to vote.   That's not the case with Donald Trump's DOJ. You can see how he targets groups of voters he disagrees with.   I talked about how we're going to stop him on Talking Points Memo.

4 2

Donald Trump talks about changes to our elections in terms of how it helps the Republican party, and that's telling. The work we are doing on the Committee on House Administration is about protecting every American's right to vote, not one party. I talk about this and more on Talking Points Memo.

7 0

The Anti-Corruption and Democracy Reform Task Force heard from experts this week, like Daniel Schuman from the American Governance Institute, on how we can hold Congress more accountable to the public. We're creating a more unified democracy that works for every American.

142 49

Honored to welcome Rochester’s own Rabbi Peter Stein to the House as Guest Chaplain today. Rabbi Stein opened the People's House in prayer, reflecting our nation’s deep commitment to religious freedom.

6 1

I joined Talking Points Memo to talk about the real problems we should be focusing on with American elections.   Rather than chasing voter fraud that we know doesn't exist, we should be working to engage the 80 million eligible voters who chose not to vote in the 2024 election.

7 3

President Trump likes to say voting is a privilege.   A privilege is my grandson getting five more minutes of TV before bed. Voting is a right. One that preserves all others.   Without access to the ballot box, nothing else can be guaranteed.

65 21

Grateful to be joined by Brian Lemek from Defend the Vote at this week's Anti-Corruption and Democracy Reform Task Force meeting.   Together we're working to protect our nation's elections and fight back against any attempt to silence American voters.

2 0

Donald Trump’s Executive Order attempting to take over our elections is unconstitutional and unserious.

3 1

A quick reminder on the U.S. Constitution for my Republican colleagues:   Article I, Section 4 makes clear that the President has no role in administering our elections.

10 2

When I talk to business leaders here in Rochester, they all share the same feeling, predictability is critical to their success. The Trump Administration brings nothing but chaos for our local businesses.

7 0

House Republicans may not like to hear it, but it's true. Donald Trump cannot accept he lost the 2020 election and as a result, he has dragged the entire Republican Party down a path that harms the American people.

7 4

As top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, I'm working to make sure every American has the chance to make their voices heard at the ballot box.   We won't allow voters or election officials to be intimidated by the Trump Administration.

8 7

Once again, Donald Trump is off on an unhinged rant about the fairness of an election where votes didn't go his way. He cannot accept defeat.   We will not allow him to silence the voices of American voters.

6 2

Not even Donald Trump’s own Secretary of Commerce is on the same page with how he’s handling the economy.   We need transparent leadership that puts American families and workers first. That’s not what we’re getting from President Trump.

2 0

What is happening to Dolores Bustamante is tragic. She is a mother, a worker, and a neighbor who has built her life here in Rochester.   The Trump Administration's continued persecution of people who have come from other places is disgraceful,  reprehensible, and un-American.

7 3

A democracy that doesn't have the faith of the people becomes an existential threat.   @hcrichardson.bsky.social and I discussed the need to restore trust in our government and hold the Trump Administration accountable on her podcast, "American Conversations."

8 2

Great to be with @reptedlieu.bsky.social for a briefing on election security this week.   We're going to stop any attempts by the Trump Administration to restrict free and fair elections.

4 2

Millions of Americans—including many here in Rochester—have concerns about the National Guard being deployed to polling places.   During an Appropriations hearing last week, I asked the Chief of the National Guard about their plans for the upcoming election.   Watch his answer:

3 1

Clearly, transparency is not a priority for the Trump Administration. We don't know exactly how much has been spent on Trump's war in Iran, but we do know that's money that could have had a real impact on the lives of hardworking American families here at home.

10 2

When 80 million voting age people don't participate in a presidential election, it's a pretty big warning sign. Americans have lost faith in their government. I joined @hcrichardson.bsky.social to share how I'm leading the work that's necessary to restore their trust.

10 3

Proud to introduce the Poll Worker Tax Cut Act with Rep. Latimer.   Poll workers are essential to free & fair elections. They shouldn’t be penalized for stepping up to serve. This bill ensures their earnings aren’t taxed as income. Let’s support those who support our democracy.

8 3

Proud to have @repnikema.bsky.social as a co-chair on the Anti-Corruption and Democracy Reform Task Force.   This is about restoring faith in government. A government of the people. By the people. For the people. We’re committed to doing the work to get there and we won’t back down.

204 51

The Trump Administration's move to vacate convictions for seditious conspiracy by members of Oath Keepers and Proud Boys for what happened on January 6th, 2021 is beyond disgraceful.   We need to put an end to the corruption that goes on in the Trump Administration.

452 115

Proud to be working with @RepNikema.bsky.social @Ramirez.house.gov, and @kevinmullin.house.gov on the Anti-Corruption & Democracy Reform Task Force.   This Task Force is about protecting the integrity of our institutions and ensuring no one is above the law.

11 4

The chaos and recklessness must stop.   It is long past time to remove Donald Trump from office. He is unfit for the presidency, and I will vote to hold him accountable.

12 4

As top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, I'm leading the fight to keep elections fair and accessible for every eligible American voter.

10 4

REMINDER: submit your work for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition by April 17th for a chance to be showcased in the Capitol for the next year!   Visit my website or call my office for details.

4 1

I joined @publiccitizen.bsky.social to talk about how we need to put the power of our democracy back into the hands of hardworking Americans.   I'm fighting for accountability, transparence, and reform in Washington so our government works for the people.

4 3

President Trump is unfit for office. His actions in the last two weeks have underscored that.   I will vote to remove him, whether it's by the 25th Amendment or an impeachment vote in the House of Representatives.

25 5

Elections are a chance for the American people to have their voices heard.   I'm fighting back against any effort by Donald Trump to take over American elections. We cannot allow him to make it harder for eligible Americans to cast their vote.

12 3

Scams targeting seniors are only becoming more common. No one should have to worry about being tricked out of their savings or personal information.   Let’s look out for one another and make sure our loved ones have the tools to stay protected.

15 9

Donald Trump's comments yesterday were disgraceful.   It is time for House and Senate Republicans to join us, stand up, and stop this president who is hurting American interests around the world.
