Donald Trump wants to take taxpayer dollars from families who are already struggling and give them out to his friends and allies through a slush fund. It's despicable.   Congressional Republicans must step in.

The SAVE America Act is about control. It opens the door for DHS to purge eligible voters, while Trump attempts to create a national voter list by Executive Order.   This isn’t election security. It’s voter suppression.

Donald Trump has confiscated the White House. He has turned the power of the presidency into something that enriches him instead of working for the American people.

The recklessness of the Trump Administration is out of control. Trump chose to dismantle the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces, a program that has longstanding bipartisan support as a common sense public safety program.

The SAVE America Act would make it harder for Americans to register to vote.   In rural communities, the nearest board of elections could be hours away. Traveling there to register is a significant barrier.

You cannot claim to support law enforcement while cutting the programs they need.   The Trump Administration and House Republicans want to cut the ATF by $285 million. That's hundreds of positions lost and fewer tools and resources to keep people safe.

As top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, I'm holding the Trump Administration accountable for the rhetoric on deploying federal agents at polling places, an act that is a violation of federal law.   We will not let them interfere with free and fair American elections.

Donald Trump likes to talk about public safety, but there's nothing safe about making an entire community terrified of its own government and dropping detention cells into a downtown building our community uses to access public services every day.
