House Republicans pulled the Iran war powers vote because they knew they'd lose it. The 60-day clock has expired. The law is clear. Congress holds the power to declare war, and no president gets to run an open-ended military campaign just because his own party is too afraid to hold a vote.

Anti-vaxxers don't reject evidence because they have better evidence. They reject it because being right is an emotional need, not an intellectual position. That's the same engine driving every conspiracy theory - the high of knowing a secret matters more than whether the secret is true.

America has survived bad policies before. What it can't survive is undermining the Constitution, the rules, and the institutions that hold democracy together. That's the real danger, and that's why defending liberal democracy comes before any policy disagreements.
