Today I visited the protest outside of Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, NJ, and what I saw was jarring, even as someone who spent a week at ICE’s “baby jail” in Texas.

Earlier this May Day, I stood in solidarity with Sunrise Movement at Wall Street, where activists shut down business as usual and got arrested to demand that we tax the rich, abolish ICE, and secure free and fair elections.
