TALK TO THE PEOPLE MAKING THE PLAN. Even if you are aware and highly involved with the work of the Universal Health Plan Governance Board, the process is long, involved, and confusing. Oregon is on track to be the first state to transition to a universal healthcare system, and the time is now.

Why would British Columbia be advertising in the middle of downtown Portland to "follow your heart" to British Columbia, to work in their health care system? It's because our current "system" is broken, unethical, and leaves our clinicians with a moral injury.

These question was asked during the Virtual Town Hall, hosted by Health Care for All Oregon, featuring members of the Universal Health Plan Governance Board and their Executive Director, Dr. Mimi McDonnell. Unfortunately it is an "it depends" answer.

From Governance Board's Calendar view, you can submit your public comments, or attend any of the meetings of the Governance Board, or their sub committees. The Governance Board must deliver a plan for how Oregon can finance, administer, and transition to a universal health care system for Oregon.

Negative comments about universal healthcare transition are basically all the same. Their worst fears have already come to pass. We already have the most expensive healthcare system in the world. People are waiting a year just to get a physical. The rationing of care currently happening.

Sign on to this month's testimony to the Universal Health Plan Governance Board. The most important outcome is that this new movement towards a Universal Health Plan is successful. Value Based care was created as a band-aid fix to a failed system.

There are only 5 more meetings of the Universal Health Plan Governance Board before their September deadline. There is an opportunity submit your written comments directly to the Board. They read every message, and these comments are helping to shape the development of the plan.
