This week the Mental Health Bill came back to Parliament. I raised the case of my constituents Cyril and Dianne who lost their son Leon as result of failures in the system. The nominated persons clause in the bill will be of great comfort to parents such as Cyril and Dianne.

I'm so pleased that the two-child benefit cap has been scrapped, something the Lib Dems have long campaigned for. However, the Chancellor missed a huge opportunity to reverse the £90bn a year cost of the Tories botched Brexit deal and announce a new UK-EU Customs Union.

The changes to leaseholds announced today are welcome, but the Government must go further to tackle rip off service charges. Social housing tenants are often the ones left most affected by these rip off charges. I am pleased that the Minister has agreed to meet to discuss this issue further.

In yesterday's Budget debate, I raised the issue of mental health services. I am alarmed by reports that the Government may water down the investment standard for mental health. This investment has proven to be vital in creating a parity between physical and mental health.

I was shocked when a midwife in Oxford told me stories of sewage dripping through the ceilings at the hospital and into the maternity unit. Whilst staff at the hospital do their upmost to provide the best care for patients, they can only do so if supported with extra funding from the Government.

The news that the NHS may now have to pay up to £3 billion more for drugs from the US is concerning. There needs to be clarity from the Government about who exactly will pay for this. The Government shouldn't prioritise economic growth over the health of the NHS.
