Last Parliament, I worked to pass strong anti-greenwashing rules to stop corporations from making false environmental claims. Last week, the Liberals and Conservatives joined forces to gut them. Rather than defending the public, they’re facilitating corporate deception.

Last week I tried to remove sections of the Liberal budget bill that retroactively deny compensation owed to Canadian Veterans. But the Liberals and Conservatives teamed up to keep the provisions in place. This shameful decision breaks Canada’s covenant with those who served.

I urged all members to reject the removal of the Digital Services Tax. Letting US big tech off the hook means walking away from $7.2B that could fund public services and infrastructure. We should not be abandoning Canadian policy simply because of pressure from Donald Trump.

New Democrats believe in supporting big nation-building projects, like an East-West clean electricity grid, which would create hundreds of thousands of jobs, reduce pollution, promote energy security and lower energy bills.
